RAFW
Brand strategy and digital platform for a farm-to-table restaurant
Brand Strategy and Digital
Brand consultancy and digital delivery for Rafw, a farm-to-table casual fine dining restaurant in Petaling Jaya that opened in 2023, from positioning through to the restaurant website, operations dashboard and cloud management.
Rafw is rare in Malaysian dining. The business started in 2019 as a cattle farm in Kelantan, one of the first Wagyu breeders in the country, opened a premium butchery in Shah Alam the same year, and only then opened the restaurant, led by an internationally trained chef. Farm first. Then the restaurant. That is a provenance story most restaurants would pay for and cannot have. The risk at launch was the opposite one: that Kuala Lumpur diners would read Rafw as one more premium steakhouse, compare it on price per cut, and never hear about the farm at all.
TheFaceCraft's work began with perception: how diners, suppliers, media and the food community would read the restaurant on first contact, and where that reading would diverge from what the owners had built. From there came the brand positioning and voice, built around ownership of the supply chain, not the dining room, so that the farm, the butchery and the kitchen read as one business. The digital layer followed the strategy: a restaurant website designed to carry the story and the menu, an operations dashboard for the team, and the cloud infrastructure behind both, set up and managed by TheFaceCraft. Rafw now presents as what it is: a farm that opened a restaurant. Menus get copied. Farms do not.
